How Many Gallons in a 22 ft Round Pool?
A 22 ft round pool with a 52 in wall holds about 10,700 gallons. Bestway rates its APX 365 22 ft × 52 in at 10,668 gallons, filled to 90% of the wall.
Always follow your product’s label directions. Pool and spa chlorine, bromine, shock and algaecides are EPA-registered pesticides: use products labeled for pool or spa use, and don’t swim or soak until levels are within the limit on your product’s label. If this page and a label disagree, the label wins.

The 22 ft size is easy to miss. Most big frame-pool ranges jump from 20 ft to 24 ft, so 22 ft is usually a pool you bought years ago, bought used, or found under a different brand name. This page helps you check which number applies to yours.
Quick answer: 22 ft round pool gallons by wall height
The data block has rows for 48, 52 and 54 in walls with 90% fill, in gallons and liters. The frame-pool column applies our standard correction for steel-frame pools, and the block also lists the factory capacity of real 22 ft models and starting doses for this volume.
| Wall height | Geometry | Frame pool estimate (× 0.93) | Inflatable estimate (× 0.87) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 42 in wall | 8,957 gal33,907 L | 8,330 gal | 7,793 gal |
| 48 in wall | 10,237 gal38,751 L | 9,520 gal | 8,906 gal |
| 52 in wall | 11,090 gal41,980 L | 10,314 gal | 9,648 gal |
| 54 in wall | 11,517 gal43,595 L | 10,710 gal | 10,019 gal |
Geometry = π/4 × diameter² × water depth × 7.48. Real pools hold less than the nominal size suggests. The factors are medians of 26 manufacturer capacities (our own calculation).

Which 22 ft models are out there
| Model | Wall | What we could confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Bestway APX 365 | 52 in | 10,668 gallons at 90% fill, on Bestway's page |
| Coleman Power Steel | 52 in | Retail listings show the same 10,668 gallons. We did not find it on a Coleman page. |
| Intex Ultra XTR Frame | 52 in | Intex sells a replacement liner for this size, so the pool existed. Intex's current Ultra XTR round list stops at 24 ft, and we could not confirm a capacity for 22 ft. |
Treat the Coleman number as a retailer's claim until you see it in your manual. The identical figure for Bestway and Coleman suggests a shared design, but we cannot confirm that from a source, so we do not rely on it.
The Bestway number sits 3.8% below plain geometry for a 22 × 52 pool at 90% fill. That puts it at the high end of the frame pools in our database, where the manufacturer-to-geometry ratio runs from 0.935 to 0.962 for round pools of 16 to 24 ft. If your pool has a different wall height, use the table above rather than scaling 10,668.
Why 22 ft is a good size to check twice
- Neighbors are close. A 21 ft pool is on its own page, and the 24 ft model is 12,481 gallons on another. The 2 ft gap between 22 and 24 is about 1,800 gallons by the makers' own numbers. Do not borrow a dose from the wrong size.
- Old and replacement liners. A used 22 ft pool may have a liner that was cut for another height. Measure the wall, then the water line, instead of trusting the label.
- Weight. 10,668 gallons weighs about 89,000 lb, or roughly 44 tons, at 8.34 lb per gallon. Frame pools need level, compacted ground. Follow your manual's site steps.
Calculator: your exact depth
Set the diameter to 22 ft, then enter the wall height and the fill level you keep. If you refill after splash-out or leave water 6 in below the top, use that number, not the manufacturer's.
Doses at this volume
The closest full chart is the 10,000 gallon dose sheet. At 10,668 gallons, a 22 × 52 pool is about 7% above that sheet, so scale every amount up by that much before you pour. The data block above works from the exact volume. Always follow the product label.
At this size, chemical costs add up. A stabilizer reading (cyanuric acid, CYA) and a daily free chlorine (FC) check take a minute and tell you how fast the pool uses chlorine. Log your numbers for a week, then use the chemical cost calculator to price what the pool really costs per week. If chlorine drops fast, see chlorine not holding.
The pump run time calculator gives a starting estimate for daily filter hours. Adjust it to your own water clarity.
Safety. Add liquid chlorine in front of a return jet with the pump on. Add acid at a different time, never in the same spot. Measure in clean, dry, labeled containers. Never mix chlorine with acid or with another chlorine product. Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222. Always follow the product label. It is a violation of federal law to use a pesticide product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
